With wear and tear, the spring in your spring tool may eventually snap. Afterall, it's a thin piece of metal which takes quite a lot of strain. When this happens, there is no need to replace the whole spring tool itself. Here you can buy replacement springs to get your tool back to working order. 

To replace the spring, first take the old spring out. Then insert the pointed end of the new spring into the channel in the wooden handle. Next, adjust the circular end of the new spring into the cupped end of the metal spring handle. Press the lever a few times so it bounces into into position and hey presto!
