Our Ragged Life rag rug HQ is located in the beautiful grounds of Delamere House (cardinal Wolsey’s old hunting lodge) in the quaint village of Great Wymondley. There is plenty of free on-site parking but, for those taking public transport, the venue can be reached by travelling to Hitchin station (direct trains from London Kings Cross, Finsbury Park, Cambridge, Peterborough, and beyond) and taking a short, approx £7, taxi ride. One of the many perks of doing a workshop at our Rag Rug HQ is that you have free reign to choose from our extensive fabric hoard. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the day. Our Ragged Life Brighton HQ is located in Elspeth's lovely, creative home in central Brighton. The advantage of being in Elspeth's home is that there are lots of inspiring samples to hand and even more fabric than usual! Know How You Sewing School
Beckenham, Greater London
We love beautiful, creative settings for our workshops and you don't get much better than the Know How You Sewing School, which is inside the historic Mansion in Beckenham Place Park. The Mansion itself is gorgeous and surrounded by calming greenery where you can take a walk before or after the class. Bliss!
The workshop space itself has beautiful big windows, making it the perfect light and airy space to craft in. It's easily reached by public transport and there is paid parking available in the park itself, but it can get filled up pretty quick if the weather is good during the summer. For free parking, the perimeter of the park is free if you're able to make a short walk of 5-10 minutes. For more details, get in touch.
RHS Hyde Hall
Chelmsford, Essex
We only run a few workshops at RHS Hyde Hall every year, but it has become one of our favourite venues. Located in the stunning Royal Horticultural Society maintained garden, the setting could not be more inspiring! Workshop attendees get free access to the gardens and there's plenty of time to look around before and after the class. The Clore Learning Centre (where the workshop takes place) is large, airy and filled with light. i.e. the perfect location to have fun with fabric. July Flower Tree Cottage
Finsthwaite, The Lake District
For pure serenity, come to our Ragged Life venue and retreat in the beautiful Lake District National Park. Located in Finsthwaite, a little village near Lake Windermere in the South Lakes, July Flower Tree cottage is cosy, convivial and just where you'd want to learn a new craft. Parking is available at the venue, but as we're quite remote, do please remember your packed lunch! For more details, get in touch.
Crafty Sew and So
Makers Yard, Leicester, LE1 1SB
Our lovely partners at Crafty Sew and So are using Makers' Yard in the centre of Leicester for our workshops. This venue is an award-winning, dynamic and inspiring workspace for creative entrepreneurs. It is located in Leicester's beautiful cultural quarter, this listed building is the oldest surviving hosiery factory in the East Midlands. Maker’s Yard is a 10 minute walk from Leicester station and there are the usual city centre parking options available.
Creative Space
39 High St, Staple Hill, Bristol, BS16 5HD
Creative Space is a friendly studio space in Staple Hill offering evening and weekend classes across a broad range of disciplines from upholstery and creative writing to, of course, rag rug making. The beautiful workshop space is filled with natural light and just perfect for learning to rag rug with like-minded crafters.
There is ample free parking on the main road outside the venue and in the surrounding streets. Equally, you can catch the 49 bus from central Bristol, which takes around 30 minutes door to door.

The Viking Loom

The Viking Loom is a real Aladdin's cave 15 mins drive north from the centre of York set in beautiful countryside. Those arriving by train into York can travel the 3.3 miles in a taxi.
Romy and the team moved their lovely craft shop from the centre of York a while back and are now based in the picturesque spot which is easily accessible by car and has ample parking.
